NALS is pleased to offer a virtual education series to help learn about lilies and their culture.
The Fall 2024-Winter 2025 series will focus on propagating lilies. In this series of educational sessions, we will strive to help you understand the selection and preparation of seeds, when to plant them, and how to care for your new seedlings. We will also explore the process of scaling Lilium bulbs to expand your Lilium collection with additional clones of your favorite lilies.
All virtual education sessions will take place via LIVE Zoom sessions. By participating as a presenter or audience member in this digital environment, you agree to be recorded. (If you do not wish to be recorded, please do not participate in the live sessions.)
Seminar Schedule:
- Sunday, September 29, 2024 – Join our “Lily Podcast” where you will learn about selecting and drying Lilium pods, sorting and preparing seeds, and storing Lilium seeds for future planting. Bring your lily pods to the session and walk through the process with us. Start Time: 1 PM Pacific, 2 PM Mountain, 3 PM Central, 4 PM Eastern (UTC−07:00).
- Saturday, October 26, 2024 – Join our “Bring your own Bulb” (BYOB) Saturday where you will learn about the process of scaling bulbs and propagating new Lilium from scales. Bring your lilium bulb to the session so you can scale and create new lilies with us. Learn more at this link from the Let’s Grow Lilies! publication. - Saturday, January 25, 2025 – Join us for “Growing and Showing lilies in New Zealand”. Our lily friends in New Zealand grow and show extraordinary Lilium. They plan to walk us through their growing process and then show us some of the blooming Lilium they have selected for their local Lily Show. Start Time: 1 PM Pacific, 2 PM Mountain, 3 PM Central, 4 PM Eastern (UTC−08:00).
- Sunday, February 23, 2025 – It’s time to plant the lily seeds you prepared in September. Join us for “Planting lily seeds” where you will learn about planting Lilium seeds and nurturing your seedlings. Bring your seeds and soil to this session so you can follow along with the process.
